About Us

Polish Folk Dance Group Koniczyna is a non-profit organisation registered in Ireland. Koniczyna was established in October 2009 supported by Dominican Polish Chaplaincy in Dublin. The group consists of approx. 55 members at various ages and levels of dance skills (from professional dancers to beginners). The group’s program includes national, regional dances and selected regional folk songs.

Małgorzata Dulny – Koniczyna’s founder and adult groups choreographer – is a long-time member of Szczecin Folk Song and Dance Group Krąg, and a graduate of Polish Folklore Group Instructors’ Training College at UMCS in Lublin, Poland.

Joanna Malik Woźnica - is an experienced dance instructor and performer with years of experience in a wide range of dance styles. She has been closely associated with Polish folk dance ensembles and the Slovak group Ostroha, developing a strong artistic and teaching background. She specializes in folk dance, swing styles (including boogie woogie, rock and roll, and lindy hop), ballroom dance, contemporary, jazz, and theatrical dance forms. Over the years, she has taught children, teenagers, and adults in cultural centers, private dance schools, and through individual coaching, including wedding first dance choreography. Joanna is a multiple-time national champion in swing and rock and roll dance, with numerous competition awards and television appearances to her name, including talent shows and entertainment programs in Poland

Małgorzata Orłowska-Smith-Trafny coordinates group activities in Balbriggan. She also dances with the adult ensemble. She is an active scout leader and serves as the commissioner of the Polish Scouts in Ireland (ZHP Balbriggan).
Her work with children is both her profession and passion. She is deeply committed to creating spaces where young people can grow through culture, movement, and community—both in scouting and in dance.

We are proud ambassadors of Poland’s native folklore on the Emerald Island and we promote the richness of Polish culture to all nationalities. In 2016, Koniczyna opened a junior group to share the beauty of traditional Polish dances with younger generations. We are now encouraging children and teenagers (aged 5+) to join our existing dance group to learn about their native culture and to make life-long friendships.

As a non-profit volunteer-based group we rely on group members' contributions and sponsors' support to help us further develop our skill set and to allow us fulfill our mission. Contact us to discuss sponsorship opportunities and benefits.
